3 ways to generate very targeted traffic

You know you need to build a list. You build a kick butt opt in or squeeze page but how do you get someone to see it.

Understand that just because you have a page on the web it doesn’t mean anybody will ever see it. If no one sees it no one signs up. No one signs up and you got no list. Vicious circle isn’t it.

Let’s talk about 3 different ways of generating very targeted traffic that don’t need the big G (Google - whether it be SEO or PPC).

Articles are one of the easiest ways to generate traffic to your opt in form. Submitting articles to the directories and having them picked up on a regular basis will get you traffic. You should always write articles that are informative but leave the reader wanting just a bit more, Like Paul Harvey says “Now here’s the rest of the story” and of course every one wants to know “the rest of the story”.

The great thing with this type of traffic is that the person already sees you as a valued resource when they click through off your signature file. Your percentage of people that opt in from this type of traffic will be higher than any other form of traffic.

There are a couple of good reasons for this. First you are an author and that gives you immediate credibility. Second, the article was on another site or newsletter and they have automatically added their credibility with the reader to it by using it.

The second one is your forum signature. If you are active in a particular forum and have built up credibility in that forum have a signature file that leads back to your sign up page. Again, this is high quality traffic because the person following that link already has an opinion of you from your input in the forum. Leverage your credibility always.

Now, this does not mean go out and spam forums. Use this in forums in which you participate. If you are not a participant or just do drive by spam posts no one is going to have built a relationship with you and this will not help you.

Third use a blog in conjunction with the social networks. My Space has millions of people using it every day. The problem is that My Space is very fussy about commercial use of their site (except by them). If you are writing articles and submitting them already post them on your blog also. Go to My Space and add a post to your blog their that you just put up a new article on your main blog and link to your blog. You haven’t violated the rules, you get a good back link depending on how active you’re my Space page is and all you’re my Space friends will see it when they come visiting.

Another item that will be addressed in Opt In Master Course rewrite will be using membership sites to build your list. I am in the process of building two additional membership sites of my own. (Yes you can be sure I will let you know.< wink >) Part of the advantage of using membership sites in your business model is that you can leverage one to help populate the next site.
