How many holes do you have?

Do you review your marketing procedures on a regular basis? I know I haven’t been at least anywhere near what I should be.
I love to get systems set up and profitable but how much money am I leaving on the table because I don’t review what they are doing on a regular basis? Quickly finding out it is quite a bit.
Just started a total review of things and I kicking myself for some of the holes I am finding.
Started with a simple thank you page for my tracking book which I give away. All it did was say thank you. Added a resell rights product I own there and discount the price and the next morning what do I find? Gee a payment notice. How many of these have I missed over the last few months?
It is not just thank you pages though. This set the light bulb off. How many other places have I neglected?
Understand that I love to set up systems and let them go. This allows me to create a system and go onto the next.
The problem is that things change.
This set me off on a mission. Spend an hour a day reviewing my systems.
How long since you have checked and reviewed your systems lately?
- Which ads in your email series convert?
- How are your thank you page offers converting?
- Do you have offers on your thank you page?
- How long since you replaced an ad on your autoresponder series?
Take the time to review these on a regular basis. Find and plug the holes in your system.
You will be amazed at what a difference it can make to your bottom line. I am are you?

3 steps to use a canned e-mail
by Mike PaetzoldWe all know how easy it is, especially if you are busy or just haven’t developed a confidence in your own writing skills to copy and paste out an e-mail to your list. You are thinking that hey, this e-mail reads great and is much better than what I can write. Or you are just busy finishing a project and haven’t sent out in a bit. Or you are excited about the product and want to mail on it NOW.
There are loads of reasons why you would do this but let me give you a word of warning – DO NOT DO THIS.
It leads to abuse of your list. You start to think “Aha that was easy.” The first time you do it it may even work well for you. After all, when I create a product I try to put a lot into the tools I give to my affiliates. Other owners do too. It is in our interest to give you the best that we can. The more you sell the more we both make. What the owner writes may be better than what you would come up with in the short term but it will have their personality in it not YOURS.
Now I won’t tell you that on occasion you can’t do this. It becomes a problem if you make it a habit. Your subscribers lose your personality and if you are just using these types of things they will soon lose interest.
Now this is not to say that you can’t use the tools the program owners give you as an outline. After all, who knows their product better? Who should know the benefits better?
If you take what they have given you and list 3 things you can use their work to create an e-mail that: a) informs, b)presells the product.
This allows you to give good information to your subscriber and hopefully make some money. That after all is the reason you spent the time, money and effort on building your list.
- Describe the problem – what is the problem that this solves? Tell a story that is personal that brings the problem into focus.
- Describe the pain – what bad things can happen because of this problem? Use personal examples of what has gone wrong because of this problem
- Give them the solution – How does this item avoid the pain you just described? Show exactly how this can help them avoid the pain in step 2.
Do this in your words with your examples. Now your subscriber gets your personality in the e-mail and gets solid information on a problem to avoid.
You have given your subscriber both information to help them and got your sales pitch in at the same time.
Compare that to just using the canned e-mail. If you got 10 e-mails on the same subject which author will you keep reading?

Do you get surprise payments?

One of the things I like is when I get an unexpected payment. We always seem to get more than our share of surprise bills. Getting unexpected payments is a great feeling.
Now when I do a promotion for a product or service I expect to get payments. When I push traffic at a site I expect to get payments. These are not what I am referring to.
I am talking about the ones that come in from out of the blue. It may be from something you did a year or more ago. Those neat little things you forgot about.
Russell Brunsen calls them “Affiliate Landmines”. In fact he then went on to use that name for a program he created he liked the term so much. The little do it once thing that just sits out there until someone steps on it. Just like a landmine sits in the earth doing nothing until it gets stepped on.
Fortunately, affiliate landmines unlike regular landmines help you instead of hurt you. They generate unexpected income.
The big question is –Do you consistently add these to your arsenal?
Articles can be affiliate land mines if used properly. I still get traffic to things I was doing two years ago that I submitted articles about and linked to a page of mine.
Rebrandable e-books are always a great way to just drop these little morsels. They can reside on a hard drive for months and all of a sudden they get remembered and a link gets clicked. Kaboom!!! There goes one you forgot about.
Finally your newsletters archives can also be a great landmine. Doesn’t matter whether you use a blog or static pages they still get searched and sometimes they will create that Kaboom months later.
If you aren’t getting surprise payments then maybe you need to start placing a few landmines of your own. If you are why not take the time each week to place a few more?

This is going to be a great year I can feel it in the old bones. Our first seminar using the split sessions and the ideas from those that attended have really helped me to get a good feeling that people will really be helped.
Here is one of the emails I received from an attendee of the Web 2.0 seminar for rebranders.
